ARCH, Gujarat, India, 2012/2025
Action Research in Community Health (ARCH) is a Non Governmental Organization (NGO) working to provide primary health care and quality education to the tribal population in remote villages of Southern Gujarat, India. ARCH is dedicated to improving the lives of the tribal population through grassroots action and community-level research in health, education and development.
During my month residency at ARCH in 2012, I painted a mural on the campus pre-school and taught painting and drawing to a group of teenage young women at the Keidy Residential School. ARCH also facilitated my travel to other more remote schools to lead daily art workshops.
I returned to ARCH in 2025 where I worked with a new generation of art students at Keidy Residential School, painted a portrait of the late founder of the organization, and revisited old friends.
